چکیده

Viruses isolated from avian erythroblastosis and myeloblastosis have been extensively investigated with the electron microscope (3-5, 8, 11, 1~). However, avian lymphomatosis virus has been studied by electron microscopy only in infected tissue sections (7), although a particulate component has been reported in the plasma of infected fowl (13). Wi th the successful cultivation of the lymphomatosis agent in tissue culture (9, 14), suitable material became available for further study in the electron microscope. This report concerns the characteristics of tissue culture-propagated lymphomatosis virus as determined by the electron microscope. The virus was identified by correlating particle counts with infectivity (1, ~, 15) and by inducing clumping of the particles with specific antiserum (5, 8). The counting technic also yielded an estimate of the number of virus particles per tissue culture infective dose.

Comparison of an avian osteopetrosis virus with an avian lymphomatosis virus by RNA-DNA hybridization.

Myeloblastosis-associated virus (MAV)-2(0), a virus which was derived from avian myeloblastosis virus and induced a high incidence of osteopetrosis, was compared with avian lymphomatosis virus 5938, a recent field isolate which induced a high incidence of lymphomatosis. The following information was obtained. (i) MAV-2(0) induced osteopetrosis, nephroblastoma, and a very low incidence of hepato...

An electron microscope study of virus-like particles in chick embryo and L cell cultures.

Latent virus infections in chickens have been recognized for several years. Many investigators have seen spherical, virus-like particles in normal chicken cell cultures, and have suggested that they might have been the virus of avian lymphomatosis, which occurs frequently without producing disease symptoms and is transmitted trans-ovarially. Virus-like particles were also observed during the pr...

Evaluation of H9N2 avian influenza virus dissemination in various organs of experimentally infected broiler chickens using RT-PCR

Widespread occurrence of H9N2 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) viruses in many Asian countriesduring the past decade has resulted in the need for evaluation of the pathogenesis of H9N2 virus infection. In this study, tissue tropism and dissemination of A/Chicken/Iran/772/1998(H9N2) virus throughout the body of broiler chickens were investigated. The clinical signs, gross lesions and antibo...
